The Metropolitan Expressway announced traffic congestion forecasts for the Golden Week period (April 25-May 6). The company has released a forecast calendar and map, and is urging drivers to disperse traffic by changing their travel dates and times.

According to the announcement, traffic congestion tends to increase on weekdays in late April and in the first half of consecutive holidays in May, and especially on April 17, 23 and 24, weekdays before consecutive holidays, traffic congestion is expected to be heavy from early morning until late at night due to the concentration of business traffic. On the other hand, traffic congestion is expected to decrease in the latter half of the holidays.

During the period, be careful on the Bayshore Route, starting from the Tokyo Bay Aqualine, where particularly heavy traffic congestion is expected on April 25, 26, and 29, and May 2-5, with traffic congestion of up to 18 km on the westbound Bayshore Route from May 2-4 to near Oi JCT, which is expected to take up to 3 hours and 5 minutes to pass. It is expected to take up to 3 hours and 5 minutes to get through. This congestion will have a significant impact on the route to Haneda Airport. For this reason, the company recommends using the “Airport West Exit” on the No. 1 Haneda Route when traveling to Haneda Airport from the Tokyo area. The company also recommends an early restroom break at Oi PA.

Other exits around leisure facilities that are expected to be particularly congested during the holidays are as follows.
