Actibase Fukui and Core Global Management opened a decentralized lodging facility, Auberge Homachi Mikuni Minato (3-4-39 Minami-Honcho, Mikuni-cho, Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture), on January 28.
It is located approximately 20 minutes by car from Ashiharaonsen Station, where the new Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train will stop (Kanazawa-Tsuruga line will open on March 16), and approximately 5 minutes on foot from Mikuni Station on the Echizen Railway Mikuni Ashihara Line.
The Mikuni Minato area of Fukui Prefecture, which flourished as a port of call for Kitamae-boats during the Edo and Meiji periods, is home to a total of 11 buildings, including lodging, restaurants, and a front desk. The facilities are “kagura-ken” machiya houses renovated using “shakudani” stone, which can only be mined in Fukui Prefecture, and lumber.
The interior design of the guest rooms (16 rooms in total) is inspired by the Mikuni Festival, one of the largest in Hokuriku, as well as the “yuya” (bathhouse), “budo” (martial arts), and “hanamachi” (flower district), allowing guests to experience the lifestyle, culture, and history of Mikuni Minato.
The restaurant building “Tateru Yoshino Mikuni Minato” will offer meals utilizing local ingredients produced by French chef Ken Yoshino.
In addition, a variety of cultural experience activities are available exclusively for guests. Visitors can enjoy tours led by local guides (Ryushokan, Takiya Temple, Demura, and Mikuni Shrine courses), cooking, shamisen (three-stringed Japanese musical instrument) experience, lantern, bonsai, and wind-bell making.
