Solaseed Air celebrates 20 years of service to Kumamoto. President Takahashi looks back on the disaster recovery project, saying, “If we can help in any way, we will.

On August 1, Solaseed Air marked the 20th anniversary of its service to Kumamoto. On the same day, a ceremony was held at Kumamoto Airport to commemorate the 20th anniversary, as well as stage events, goods sales, and other thank-you events. In addition, passengers on all five flights from Kumamoto to Haneda were given commemorative gifts containing products from Sorakoi related municipalities and Solaseed Air goods as a token of appreciation for 20 years of service.

Solaseed Air, which currently operates 40 round trips of 80 flights/day on 14 routes throughout Tokyo, Okinawa, and Kyushu, began operating the Miyazaki-Haneda route in 2002 as Skynet Asia Airways. The following year, on August 1, 2003, it began operating the Kumamoto – Haneda route. Currently, there are 5 round trips and 10 flights per day on the Kumamoto – Haneda route.

Kosuke Takahashi, President and Representative Director of Solaseed Air, who took the stage on behalf of the organizers, recalled that “the past 20 years have been marked by various disasters.

The project aircraft “Ganbarou,” launched in response to the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016, and the “Ganbarou! Kyushu-go,” a project aircraft launched in response to the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, and “Minna-no Ganbarou Bai,” a project aircraft operated to support reconstruction from the damage caused by the torrential rainfall in July 2020! Kumamon,” which was launched in response to the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake and to support the recovery from the torrential rain in July 2020, and expressed his hope that “Solaseed Air will continue to make efforts to grow together with Kumamoto.

After the ceremony, President Takahashi and others saw off Flight 16 from Kumamoto to Haneda. The 16 flights are part of Solaseed Air’s “Sora Koi Project,” a regional PR project utilizing the airframe, and started operation on June 14 under the title “Minami Aso Go. Minamiaso GO. The image depicted on the aircraft is “Kana-chan,” an image character of Minamiaso Village’s local production for local consumption.

At the Solaseed Thanks Festival held at the event space on the first floor of Kumamoto Airport, in addition to product sales, a maintenance parts display, and a children’s uniform wearing event, an aviation class was held for local kindergarten children, and some people stopped to watch the energetic “students.
