The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau are conducting a campaign to attract visitors to Hachijo-jima, entitled “Happiness Back to Hachijo-jima! Hachijojima” campaign.
To support the reconstruction of the tourism industry on Hachijojima, a remote island in Tokyo damaged by a typhoon in October 2025, a plan with a discount coupon that offers up to 40% off the trip price will be available from March 2. Reservations can be made through online travel agencies (OTAs) for travel between check-in on March 3 and check-out on July 31.
Travelers visiting with the above discount coupons will also receive a “shopping coupon” worth 3,000 yen per person per night (up to 3 nights per reservation) that can be used to purchase souvenirs and other items at restaurants and activities on the island. The coupons are valid for seven days from the day after they are distributed, and details on stores where the coupons can be used will be posted on a special website to be opened on March 2.
