On November 14, 2025, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed an investment agreement with CarePoint, a startup company providing medical services in Africa.
Kepple Africa Ventures, a Japanese venture capital firm, and M3 Corporation, a Japanese company that operates a global online platform for healthcare professionals, have also formed a capital alliance with CarePoint. JICA will work with them to contribute to solving Africa’s healthcare challenges.

Business Objectives

Since 1993, the Government of Japan, together with the United Nations, the World Bank, the African Union, and others, has hosted the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), an international conference on African development. At the most recent TICAD 9, held in Yokohama in August 2025, the Japanese government announced the “Africa Health Investment Promotion Package” aimed at strengthening the health sector in Africa, and JICA has been working on the “Africa Health Investment Promotion Package” to mobilize funds for companies and institutions in Africa that are interested in not only economic benefits but also social and environmental impacts. JICA has announced the IDEA (Impact Investing for Development of Emerging Africa), a public-private partnership initiative to promote impact investing in Africa, which aims to mobilize funds for companies and institutions that are interested in social and environmental impact as well as economic benefits.
Furthermore, CarePoint is a partner in the Impact Investment Initiative for Global Health (Triple I) announced by the Japanese government in the Joint Statement of the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May 2023. The “G7 2X Challenge: Financing for Women” initiative is designed to promote the economic empowerment of women by encouraging development finance institutions in G7 countries, including JICA, to provide their own funding to foster women entrepreneurs and business leaders and promote their entry into the labor market. This project will also contribute to the 2X Challenge Initiative, as CarePoint is actively engaged in hiring female management and employees.
