Mitsubishi Estate and Mitsubishi Jisho Hotels & Resorts announced the launch of WAYPOINT as an apartment hotel brand.
The facilities will be equipped with home appliances such as washing machines and kitchens, and will be developed to accommodate long-term stays and multi-people accommodations. Targeting inbound families and groups that are difficult to accommodate in ordinary hotels, the company aims to open 10 facilities by 2030.
The brand concept is “The Urban Basecamp,” which is intended to be a “base” for exploration by guests. The brand name “WAYPOINT,” which means “waypoint,” also evokes the image of guests embarking on various journeys with the hotel as their base.
The first, WAYPOINT TSUKIJI TOKYO (2-9-3 Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), will open on April 1. Reservations are already being accepted.
The nine-story hotel, renovated from an existing property, will have a total of 52 rooms, each accommodating a maximum of six guests. The interior will be made of Japanese cedar and other eco-friendly timbers, and will be decorated with a warm, mountain cabin image.
