The Freed camper is affordable and easy to use. Honda’s compact minivan, the Freed, is a popular base vehicle that can be used as a passenger car for everyday use and as an overnight vehicle for sleeping in when traveling or enjoying hobbies. Several Freeds were on display at the Japan Camper Show 2026, and we will introduce two of them here. First up was a model based on the Freed Crosstour called Riera, which was displayed by camper manufacturer Route Six of Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture. It comes standard with bed mats, LED lighting, a table, 12V roof cooler, AC/DC converter, external power intake, and ceiling insulation. The Freed is a car with a low floor height, which makes it easy to get in and out of, and the low floor provides more space to the ceiling. This means that when sitting on the bench in the living room, there is plenty of leg room, and even when sitting on the bench, there is enough space above your head so that you do not feel cramped. The bed is 190 cm long, which is also sufficient for sleeping. However, since this is a compact minivan, the width is not that wide, and two adults sleeping side by side may feel cramped. However, this is not a concern when used with a small child or when used solo. When used solo, the table can be unfolded to provide sleeping space, so after watching a movie or eating a meal at the table, you can go straight to bed without having to put it away. This may seem like a small thing, but coming from someone who has stayed overnight in a car, I can say that this usage is more “nice” than I can explain in words. Next, let us introduce the “Nature Lover” from the “Style_iD” series exhibited by White House. The base model is a Honda Freed Crosstour, which comes standard with an air heater, sub-battery, driving charging system, DC interior sockets, and LED lighting inside the car. This is complemented by a bed kit and other various equipment to create a living space as options. The feature of this vehicle is that the normal seats are retained, so the seating capacity remains the same. In other words, if the bed kit is removed, the vehicle can be used as a regular Freed Crosstour. If daily use is 80-90% of the vehicle’s role, with the remainder used as a support vehicle for car trips and hobbies, then a model that can be used in this way may be a better match. Incidentally, the sleeping capacity is for two people.
A mat that can turn a full-flat seat into a perfect bed space. Another interesting product handled by Whitehouse is an air mat named “Wahaha. This mat is characterized by its supportive nature. While ordinary air mats have balloon-like cushioning properties, their overall rigidity is weak, and the air can become unevenly distributed depending on the sleeping posture and position. In many cases, this greatly affects sleeping comfort. In contrast, Wahaha uses a “high-strength fiber structure” supported by several thousand fibers per square meter, which prevents the mat from losing its shape no matter where you put your weight on it. Therefore, it distributes body pressure beautifully while maintaining the fluffy sleeping comfort of an air mat. Another key point is that it does not limit the sleeping position. Also, when you turn over, the unnatural rebound peculiar to air mats does not occur easily, and the sensation of lying on it is almost the same as that of a standard cushion. The Wahaha’s lengthwise and crosswise dimensions make it a Cinderella fit for a light high wagon with the seats folded fully flat, while the Voxy, Noah, Step Wagon, Serena, and Delica D:5 are a little short of the interior size in both length and width, but it works well enough as a bed. The more significant advantage is that the “bump” created when the seats are fully flat is hardly noticeable. In many cases, a “full flat seat” cannot actually be used as a bed, but with this mat, there is no problem in thinking of a “full flat seat” as a bed, so this item can be used not only in minivans but in a wide range of vehicles with fully flat seats. If you are going to start sleeping in a car, it would be a good idea to prepare this air mat first.
