Mask rules changing today. Wearing one in transportation and commercial facilities is a personal decision.

Posted on March 23, 2023 by News Admin

The government has indicated that “wearing masks from March 13 will be at the discretion of individuals,” and from today onward, wearing masks will not be required on public transportation such as trains, buses, and airlines, as well as in convenience stores, restaurants, and commercial facilities, and will be left to the discretion of individuals.

The government policy recommends the wearing of masks when visiting or seeing a doctor at a medical facility or using crowded public transportation, etc., while leaving the wearing of masks to the discretion of the individual, and each guideline follows this policy in principle. In principle, each guideline is in line with this policy.

In conjunction with this change, ANA has removed the “Mask Wear” posters that had been posted at Haneda Airport Terminal 2. From today, no announcements will be made in-flight, and the wearing of masks will be left to the discretion of both passengers and employees. However, we will continue to request passengers and employees to ensure social distance when queuing for boarding and disembarking, as well as cough etiquette and hand sanitizer.

Basically, it conforms to the seventh edition of the guidelines (effective March 13) of the Scheduled Airlines Association, of which the company is a member.

Hirotaro Hisazawa, General Manager of CX Strategy Department, CX Promotion Office, ANA CX Promotion Office, who held a press conference on the night before the 12th, said that it was expected that the change in the mask-wearing rule would cause some confusion at first, but he also asked for understanding that “there are people with various ideas (about wearing/removing masks), but it is important to accept and respect each other, whether among customers, employees, or between customers and employees. It is important that each party accepts and respects each other, whether among customers or employees, or between customers and employees,” he said.
