JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents) held a regular press conference at its headquarters on January 19.
The first topic is the application for the “Travel Industry Management School” for 2023. The Travel Industry Management School is a study group run by industry volunteers, where participants learn “how to see things, how to think, and how to make decisions” in order to develop future human resources for the travel industry.
Yuji Hara, President of the Travel Industry Management School and Vice President of JATA, who attended the press conference, said of the school, the first to be held in real life in six years, “We need to develop human resources who can think about how to think about this industry and how to make decisions and move forward. The number of human resources in the travel industry has been decreasing. Our hope is not only to bring in new talent, but also to make our existing talent more ambitious and active. The entire scheme of the industry is changing after the Corona Disaster, and we expect to reach a conclusion in 2023 to 2024.
He added, “I had my doubts about holding a management school at this difficult time,” and then explained the significance of holding a real school to create a network among the students. He said that the real work begins after the students graduate, and that their network of contacts will come into play in the process.
The program is open to those with at least 5 years of experience in the travel industry (see application guidelines for details). The course will begin on May 27 (total of 12 sessions, one of which will be a camp), and will be held on Saturdays from 10:00 to 15:00 (4 sessions per day). The course fee is 120,000 yen (including camp fee).
