On December 29, ANA explained the peak days for domestic flights during the year-end and New Year holidays. The person in charge was Akiko Oyamada, Executive Officer and General Manager of Tokyo Airport Branch.
Daily passenger volume on the 29th exceeded the pre-Corona (December 29, 2019) total for all ANA and Peach (Peach Aviation) routes, which exceeded 170,000 passengers. The previous high for the Corona disaster was 163,000 passengers on September 25, 2022 (Silver Week), and the number of passengers exceeded 170,000 since January 2020.
The reservation rate for departures from Haneda on the 29th was almost fully booked at 99%, and looking at the year-end and New Year period (December 28-January 5), the total for ANA and Peach still exceeded the pre-Corona level, recovering to 90%. Passenger volume is 1.2 times that of the same period in 2021, with particularly strong growth in the Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa regions.
Mr. Oyamada commented on this situation, “As a staff member working at the airport, I am happy. The style of enjoying travel is becoming more established in the With Corona environment. (The over 50s are no longer hesitant to travel (judging from reservations),” he added, “but the security checkpoints are more crowded than usual, so we urge people to act quickly.
While congestion at Fukuoka Airport’s security checkpoints has been a hot topic of discussion recently, Haneda Airport is reportedly fully staffed and has been able to make ends meet.
The following photo shows the security checkpoints immediately after the interview (around 8:30 a.m.). Of the security checkpoints from “A” to “D,” all smart lanes have been installed at A and B, so even if A to D are equally crowded, the lines at A and B are said to proceed faster (related article “ANA, Haneda Airport Domestic Flight Security Checkpoints Renewed. Smart Lanes to be introduced sequentially from October 18”).
