The “Suica Penguin” Fan Appreciation Event finally kicks off tomorrow. At Ueno Station, numbered tickets will be distributed starting with the first train, and there will also be photo spots.

Posted on October 30, 2026 by Editor in Chief

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Suica in November, JR East will host a fan appreciation event featuring its mascot, the “Suica Penguin,” at Ueno Station. The event will take place from October 30 to November 4, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (until 6:00 p.m. on the final day), at the Grand Concourse outside the Central Ticket Gates at JR Ueno Station.

Admission is free. To alleviate crowding and ensure safety, admission will be restricted via numbered tickets during all time slots. The meeting time printed on the ticket cannot be selected (tickets are distributed in order of earliest time slots), and tickets are valid only for the day of issuance. Children in elementary school or younger may enter without a numbered ticket only when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Numbered tickets will be distributed outside the Central Ticket Gate in the Grand Concourse at JR Ueno Station from the first train until 10:00 a.m. each day, next to the event venue. After 10:00 a.m., once the event has opened, tickets will be distributed outside the Main Entrance of JR Ueno Station.

The exhibition features five sections: “The History of Suica and the Suica Penguin,” “Stories of Suica, the Suica Penguin, and Me,” “Messages for the Suica Penguin,” “Photo Spots,” and “Meet & Greet.”

The Meet & Greet event operates on a pre-registration lottery system, and registration is already closed. From October 31 through November 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, the photo spots will be unavailable due to the Meet & Greet event, even if you have a numbered ticket. When you pick up your numbered ticket, you can choose whether or not you’d like to use the photo spots.
