Background and Overview
In recent years, the South Asian region has experienced remarkable economic growth and serves as a geopolitical hub connecting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. With a population of approximately 2 billion, about half of whom are under the age of 25, the region holds significant growth potential driven by its young population. The consumer and labor markets are expanding rapidly, and many companies and organizations are taking an interest in this region’s high potential.
JICA maintains local offices in countries throughout South Asia and has provided support for infrastructure development, the improvement of trade and investment environments, the enhancement of health care and education, and the strengthening of ties within the region and with other regions.
On this occasion, the heads of JICA’s overseas offices and branch offices in South Asia (India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Bangladesh) will gather to host a seminar providing firsthand insights—available only from those on the ground—on local conditions, JICA’s initiatives, business opportunities identified by JICA, research cooperation, and interregional collaboration.
Following the huge success of last year’s seminar in Fukuoka, which drew 180 participants, we’re holding it in Osaka this year!
We look forward to welcoming everyone interested in expanding their business into South Asia or in co-creation and collaboration with JICA projects!
*Please note that the head of the Maldives branch office may participate online rather than in person. We appreciate your understanding in advance.
