Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to assist with earthquake damage in the Asuero region of the Republic of Panama have arrived in the country and been delivered.
The emergency relief supplies that arrived at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, the capital, on October 20 were handed over to the Panamanian side during a handover ceremony held at the airport shortly after 11:00 a.m. that same day. Representing the Panamanian side were First Lady Marisel Cohen de Murino and Deputy Minister Carlos Guevara Man, and on the Japanese side, by Emiko Yamaguchi, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Panama, and Shohei Tada, Director of the JICA Panama Office, among others.
At the handover ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Man expressed his deep gratitude for Japan’s prompt assistance and stated that the supplies would be delivered as soon as possible to the victims in the Asuero region, which had suffered extensive damage. In response, Acting Ambassador Yamaguchi expressed his hope that the damage caused by the earthquake would be resolved as soon as possible.
The relief supplies provided on this occasion will be distributed to the victims by the government of that country.
