ANA will increase the amount of the special fuel surcharge for tickets issued between November 1 and December 31.
The company determines its fuel surcharge every two months based on the average market price of kerosene in Singapore over the previous two months.
Based on the average price from August 1 to September 30, which serves as the basis for this calculation, the amount would normally have fallen within the “25,000 yen or more but less than 26,000 yen” bracket; however, however, due to the supportive effect of the government’s emergency measures to mitigate sudden price fluctuations in light of the situation in the Middle East, the “24,000 yen or more but less than 25,000 yen” table—one level lower—was applied as a special exception.
Note that in the previous announcement (for tickets issued from September through October), the “20,000 yen or more but less than 21,000 yen” rate was applied; since the rates were 6,500 yen for South Korea and 55,000 yen for Europe, the U.S., and Australia, this represents a price increase of up to 7,000 yen.
