JAL will reopen its domestic lounge and dedicated security checkpoint in the North Wing of Haneda Airport’s Terminal 1 on October 8, following renovations.
A security checkpoint exclusively for First Class passengers and JAL Global Club members, the “First Class Lounge” (formerly known as the Diamond Premier Lounge), which has expanded its space by approximately 1.4 times, and the “Sakura Lounge,” which retains nearly the same capacity but features a newly added kids’ room. These facilities will open simultaneously, creating an experience that sets the stage for “a journey of rediscovering the charms of Japan” even before boarding.
Please note that, following the renovation of the North Wing lounge, the South Wing lounge will undergo renovations from October 8 through May 2027, with reopening scheduled for June 2027.
As part of the renovation of both lounges, three types of areas—“Working,” “Relaxing,” and “Dining”—were created to accommodate how guests spend their time and the amount of time they have before their flights. We’ve provided a wide variety of seating options, including high stools—perfect for brief stays by those in a hurry—chairs where passengers can spread out their food and drinks on a table, and sofas where they can sink back and relax while chatting with companions.
While AC outlets and USB Type-A/C charging ports are available at most seats in the lounge, the work area goes a step further by offering numerous semi-private spaces separated by partitions, making them suitable for phone calls and video conferences. The First Class Lounge also features fully private work areas with glass doors that close, and these are equipped with wireless charging pads for smartphones.
In addition, the First Class Lounge offers different food and beverage options during the morning and lunch (starting at 5:15 a.m.), snack time (2:00–4:00 p.m.), and dinner (until 9:45 p.m.). The menu rotates accordingly: in the morning and at lunch, guests can recharge with warm bread, rice dishes, and soup; during snack time, scones and cakes are served in the style of afternoon tea; and in the evening, guests can satisfy their hunger with side dishes like fried chicken and rice dishes.
Previously, the menu remained the same throughout the day, but going forward, the restaurant plans not only to change the menu by time of day but also to incorporate seasonal ingredients to keep frequent lounge visitors from getting bored.
The dedicated security checkpoint features an entrance located right next to the in-person counters and dedicated automated baggage drop-off kiosks, which opened early on July 24. The checkpoint has implemented “smart lanes” that do not require passengers to remove laptops or plastic bottles from their bags. This ensures a smooth security screening process even during peak hours.
