Saga Prefecture Announces That the “Kyushu Recovery Support Discount” Travel Assistance Program Will Apply to Stays from October 1 to December 25

Posted on September 30, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Saga Prefecture has decided that the eligibility period for the Japan Tourism Agency’s “Kyushu Recovery Support Discount” travel assistance program will cover stays from October 1 through December 25.

In preparation for the implementation of this initiative, the prefecture has submitted a budget proposal of 233,697,000 yen in the September Reiwa 8 General Account Supplementary Budget (No. 4) as a “Kyushu Recovery Support Discount Program Subsidy” for the Tourism Division.

The Kyushu Recovery Support Discount is a measure designed to quickly restore tourism demand in the Kyushu region, which was affected by the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake. It provides a 50% subsidy on travel and lodging costs (60% in Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures) for tours in various Kyushu prefectures, including Saga Prefecture, that include at least one overnight stay and are bundled with transportation such as JR train tickets or airline tickets.

The maximum discount per trip and per person is 20,000 yen for accommodation-only packages and accommodation packages with transportation (1 night); 30,000 yen for accommodation packages with transportation (2 or more nights); and 35,000 yen for multi-destination tour packages spanning two or more prefectures.

As with other prefectures, specific details regarding eligible lodging facilities, the start date for reservations, travel packages, and booking methods (travel agencies, OTAs, etc.) for the program in Saga Prefecture will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
