On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will host a hybrid seminar—combining in-person and online formats—to discuss logistics conditions in neighboring countries, which are becoming increasingly important for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction.
As international efforts toward Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction gain momentum, the logistics networks of neighboring countries have become a key factor in planning future business expansion. In Moldova, for example, rail freight transport is becoming increasingly important as a logistics corridor linking Ukraine and the EU, and ensuring its transport capacity and stability is drawing attention as one of the foundations for supporting future recovery and reconstruction demand. Furthermore, Poland has become a major transportation route connecting Japan and Ukraine. In eastern Slovakia, there is a rail terminal where cargo arriving from Ukraine is transshipped to European standard gauge, and a project to modernize this terminal using EU funds is currently underway.
This seminar will focus on Moldova, Poland, and Slovakia—countries that share borders with Ukraine—and present the latest survey findings on the current state of logistics, related challenges, and future prospects.
Following the seminar, there will be a networking session for participants. We look forward to welcoming those interested in supporting Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, as well as in expanding business operations into neighboring countries. Please note that the networking session is open only to in-person attendees; there will be no online networking session.
