Tokyo Disneyland will begin presenting “The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour” (a new stage show centered around live vocals) starting September 30. Funky! Groovy! Tour), a new stage show centered around live vocals, starting September 30. In this article, we’ll bring you an exclusive look at the press preview performance held the day before, on the 29th.

The new stage show is a classic format that lets you watch, participate, and have fun!

To showcase the magic of music, this show kicks off with a live performance by the super vocal and dance group “The D-Groovationz4.” Together with Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends, they’ll captivate the audience with an exciting stage show.

Familiar Disney songs have been given a modern twist. The soundtrack—which includes original songs—is one of the highlights of the show, both to watch and to listen to.

As a first for Tokyo Disney Resort, Baymax and Vanellope from the movie *Wreck-It Ralph* will be appearing in a stage show.

Sugar Rush, in particular, is generating a lot of buzz right now, as the attraction “Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue” is scheduled to open in the spring of 2027 in the “Tomorrowland” area—the same area as the show. Along with Baymax, Sugar Rush is one of Tomorrowland’s most popular characters right now.

You’ll also want to check out Mickey Mouse and the gang’s costumes. You’ll be captivated by the outfits, which feature multiple layers of various colors and materials—from shimmering silver to aurora-like hues that shimmer and change color depending on the light, and rich shades of purple. The designs feature an exquisite balance of curves and straight lines, blending pop and cool aesthetics, and effectively incorporate each character’s signature colors.

During the show, live camera footage was used. A portion of the venue was projected onto a screen on stage, creating a greater sense of unity. The screen mainly showed the performing characters; the audience was mostly hidden by them and hardly visible.

There was also an audience-participation segment where spectators waved towels and handkerchiefs, and the clever use of the entire Showbase space really drew the audience into the performance. Plus, the costume change at the very end of the show was absolutely spectacular!
