Mitsubishi Estate has decided to name the building for the large-scale mixed-use development “(Tentative Name) Tenjin 1-7 Project,” currently under development in Tenjin 1-chome, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, “Tenjin Taiju (TENJIN TAIJU).”
Located on the site of the former “IMS” shopping center, which operated until 2021, this building stands approximately 91 meters tall, with four basement levels and 21 above-ground floors. It consists of retail and restaurant floors, office floors, and a hotel operated by the Seattle-based “Ace Hotel” brand. Completion is scheduled for the end of May 2027.
The building’s name was chosen to reflect the hope that it would serve as a “great tree of the city”—one that takes root in the Tenjin area while fostering the interaction and growth of people and culture. The logo was designed by Hitoshi Nagao, an art director and graphic designer based in Fukuoka.
