Kinki Nippon Railway, Kintetsu & Miyako Hotels, and Kintetsu Retailing have completed work on their new tourist train, “Les Saveurs Shima,” which is set to debut on November 1 of this fall, and have unveiled the train’s exterior and interior.
Les Saveurs Shima is a four-car restaurant train themed around “an elegant train journey inspired by fine dining.” It offers “French Course” seating, supervised by Hiroe Higuchi, Executive Chef of the Shima Kanko Hotel, (33,000 yen on weekdays / 36,000 yen on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays) and the “French Set Meal” (19,000 yen on weekdays / 21,000 yen on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays), developed by Kintetsu and Miyako Hotels. Ahead of the service’s launch on November 1, general ticket sales for the November and December runs will begin on a special website starting at 10:30 a.m. on September 1.
The train operates once a day, six days a week (or seven days a week depending on the season), stopping at Kintetsu Nagoya, Ise-shi, Ujiyamada, Isuzugawa, Toba, Ugata, and Kashikojima. Of these, the French Course seating is available only on the downbound train departing from Kintetsu Nagoya and arriving at Ugata and Kashikojima, and only on the upbound train departing from Kashikojima and Ugata and arriving at Kintetsu Nagoya.
There are 50 reserved seats in total (Cars 1 and 2 feature French set-menu seating, and Car 4 features French course seating). The tour price includes a ticket for the Tetsu Nagoya–Free Section (between Ise City and Kashikojima), meals, a welcome drink, after-dinner drinks, and all applicable taxes.
