Mitsui Fudosan Residential will open “Tsudanuma Ekimae ATOCHI,” a station-front plaza, on October 1 on the site of the former “Tsudanuma PARCO” at the north exit of JR Tsudanuma Station, which spans Funabashi City and Narashino City in Chiba Prefecture.

This project aims to create a vibrant atmosphere in front of the station and revitalize the local community by making temporary use of the area until full-scale construction for future development begins. To preserve the legacy of Tsudanuma PARCO—which served as a local landmark for 45 years since its opening in 1977—a pocket park will be developed by partially reusing the remaining structural framework of the former building.

The total site area is approximately 2,800 m², divided into a plaza area of approximately 1,100 m² and a parking lot and bicycle parking area of approximately 1,700 m².

The plaza features an artificial turf area, benches, and a symbolic star-shaped tent, and serves as an everyday gathering place where food trucks set up shop during the day. Meanwhile, in the parking and bicycle parking area—designed to improve accessibility—54 hourly parking spaces (including 2 for car-sharing) operated by “Mitsui Repark” will be introduced, along with 205 bicycle parking spaces to address Narashino City’s request for measures against abandoned bicycles.

Prior to its official opening, the venue will be used on September 26 and 27 as the “Funabashi Citizens’ Festival—Tsudanuma Venue,” hosted by the local merchants’ association. Furthermore, on October 10, the opening event “ATOCHI OPENING LIVE PARK” will be held, featuring a public viewing of a game by the men’s professional basketball team, the “Chiba Jets,” as well as art and cheerleading workshops for children.

It is a 1-minute walk from Tsudanuma Station on the JR Sobu Main Line and a 3-minute walk from Shin-Tsudanuma Station on the Keisei Matsudo Line.
