For the Fall/Winter 2026 season, travel campaigns organized by local governments across the country are launching one after another. From discounts on stays at hotels and hot spring inns to coupons redeemable at local restaurants and souvenir shops, as well as special offers providing discounted access to tourist attractions and experiential activities, each region is rolling out its own unique initiatives.
In addition, starting October 1, the “Kyushu Recovery Support Discount”—a travel assistance program announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism—is scheduled to begin. Under this program, travelers booking accommodations in the Kyushu region will receive a discount of 20,000 yen per night; for stays of two nights or more that include transportation, the discount is 30,000 yen; and for multi-destination trips spanning two or more prefectures, travelers can receive a subsidy of up to 35,000 yen.
Please note that booking and application methods vary by municipality—ranging from direct reservations with the lodging facility to bookings through OTAs (such as Rakuten Travel, Jalan, and Asoview!). Since many campaigns end once the budget limit is reached, be sure to check any offers that interest you as soon as possible.
In addition, by taking advantage of the discounted tickets and sightseeing passes sold by rail, airline, bus, and highway companies, you can enjoy domestic travel at an even better value.
