To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Suica in November, JR East will host a fan appreciation event featuring the “Suica Penguin” mascot at Ueno Station. The event will take place from October 30 to November 4, daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (until 6:00 p.m. on the final day), at the Grand Concourse outside the Central Ticket Gates at JR Ueno Station.
In addition to display panels looking back on the history of the Suica Penguin, the event will feature a booth where visitors can write messages to the penguin, photo spots, merchandise sales, and meet-and-greets.
To participate in the greeting event, you must collect three stamps within a specified period during the “Digital Stamp Rally” held on the “Ekitag” app starting October 1 and win the lottery.
In addition, the campaign will take over the adjacent large-scale digital billboard “UENO CANVAS,” and stores inside Ueno Station—such as NewDays and the select shop “Nomon”—will expand their selection of “Suica Penguin” merchandise.
