JR Tokai Hotels will open the “Hilton Takayama Resort” (1134 Echigo-cho, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture) on September 14.
This is a rebranding of “Hotel Associa Takayama Resort,” located about an 8-minute ride by free shuttle bus from JR Takayama Station. The facility features a free parking lot with space for 200 vehicles.
As of September 14, the hotel opened with 91 rooms; the number will increase as renovation work progresses, and all 283 rooms are scheduled to be available by spring 2027. The hotel will offer 10 room types, primarily consisting of 35-square-meter guest rooms and 46-square-meter deluxe rooms, including five suites.
The guest room design is said to draw inspiration from Takayama’s traditional events, unique folk crafts, and the natural beauty of the Northern Alps. The rooms evoke the atmosphere of a Takayama lodge through the use of accent wall coverings featuring Hida-sashiko motifs and Hida furniture that has been in use since the hotel’s opening. Furthermore, the suites are designed around the concept of “NEO Mingei,” with the furniture and artwork showcasing the beauty of Takayama’s folk crafts.
A new “Executive Lounge” has been opened on the 4th floor. Guests staying in Executive Rooms or Suites, as well as Hilton Honors Diamond members, can enjoy services such as check-in and check-out, breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails in this lounge.
The lounge’s interior design is inspired by “tsugite,” a traditional joinery technique from Takayama, expressing the connection between traditional craftsmanship and the modern era. The chairs feature Hida furniture made from wood sourced in Gifu Prefecture.
At “Tenbo no Yu Onsen Terrace,” you can enjoy indoor and outdoor natural hot spring facilities, including an open-air bath with a panoramic view and a sauna. There are also four private hot spring rooms available. Reservations are required, and the fee for a 45-minute session is 4,400 yen. The Hot Spring Terrace is also available for day-use visitors. Day-use fees are 1,500 yen for adults, 600 yen for elementary school students, and 400 yen for children ages 3 to preschool age.
There are four restaurants on site. The dining room “Vistas” and the Japanese restaurant “Waki” serve breakfast (7:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m.), lunch (11:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.), and dinner (5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.). At “Vistas,” guests can enjoy a wide variety of buffet options and French course meals while gazing out at the Northern Alps through large windows. At “Waki,” guests can savor the mountain delicacies of Hida Takayama and seafood from the Hokuriku region. The restaurant also features a bar counter where guests can enjoy carefully selected local sake from regional breweries.
Teppanyaki “Gaku” is open for lunch (11:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.). The chef carefully grills local ingredients—including top-grade A5 Hida beef—right before your eyes. The “Scenery” Lounge & Bar is open from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During the day, it serves cakes and afternoon tea paired with coffee and tea, while after 6:00 PM, the bar area offers signature cocktails.
In addition, the lobby—the face of the hotel—was designed around the concept of “Takayama Festivals.” Drawing primarily on the motifs of lavish festival food stalls and handheld fireworks sending sparks flying, the design is said to be a modern reinterpretation of their colors, dynamism, and sculptural beauty. Furthermore, the first floor features a “Fitness Center” available to guests 24 hours a day, the gift shop “and T”—which offers a wide selection of Hilton Takayama-original products such as sake and curry—as well as a kids’ corner and karaoke rooms.
