On August 18, Daiko Logistics announced the “BEAST SHELTER,” a portable emergency shelter.
This product was developed as a “safe place to take immediate shelter” in the event of disasters such as heavy rain and flooding, or encounters with wild animals and pests such as bears and wild boars. Designed in the standard 20-foot shipping container size, it functions as a “storage container” during normal times, an “emergency shelter” in emergencies, and a “portable disaster relief base and temporary evacuation site” during large-scale disasters.
As the name “BEAST SHELTER” suggests, the shelter places a strong emphasis on its role as a refuge from wild and harmful animals. The exterior of the container features a structure made of thick steel plates and reinforced frames designed to withstand charges and scratches from bears and wild boars, and it is equipped with a reinforced door that can be locked from the inside.
The interior can be customized to suit the installation location and intended use, accommodating features such as toilets, sinks, water supply systems, bathtubs and showers, emergency generators, solar power systems and storage batteries, USB ports and electrical outlets, heating and cooling, insulation, ventilation fans, and surveillance cameras. The roof can accommodate the installation of an emergency escape hatch or ladder, as well as the display of an SOS sign, enabling rescue from above even if the occupants cannot exit through the regular entrance or exit.
In addition, to enable the facility to function as an evacuation shelter or first-aid station, emergency buttons, fold-away benches, lockers, storage shelves, stretcher beds, and AEDs can also be installed.
