The “Ludi Cave” is a popular tourist spot just a 15-minute drive from the city center. The moment you step inside, the heat outside seems like a distant memory—it’s refreshingly cool, and before your eyes, stalactites and stalagmites illuminated by colorful lights tower skyward. These natural sculptures, formed over tens of thousands of years, are illuminated with vivid blue, green, and pink lights, making it feel as though you’ve wandered into an underground palace from a sci-fi movie or fantasy story… but! At Ludi Cave, has such a high ceiling and the space itself is so vast that it’s frustrating how smartphone and camera photos simply can’t fully capture its three-dimensionality or overwhelming scale. It’s truly a grand spectacle that must be experienced with your own eyes.
From a laid-back, local daytime vibe to an energetic nightlife! Strolling Through Guilin I took a leisurely walk through the streets of Guilin and got a glimpse into the daily lives of the locals. On “Binjiang Road,” where a green tunnel of trees stretches along the river, I ran into a slightly intimidating-looking older man displaying rows of birdcages. Apparently, there’s actually a culture in China where people walk outdoors carrying birdcages. I was charmed by the contrast between the intimidating-looking man and the cute little birds, and it made for a fun stroll where I could experience that local culture up close.
