The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation will begin a pilot program on September 1 on Route C·H01 (Shinjuku Station West Exit to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Loop) as part of its efforts to transition Toei Bus operations to a fully cashless system.
Payment methods include transportation IC cards (such as PASMO and Suica) and various types of tickets (such as one-day passes, commuter passes, and Silver Passes); you can also recharge your IC card on the bus.
This pilot operation aims to foster customer understanding while verifying challenges and the effectiveness of the service. It is expected that the fully cashless bus system will ensure punctuality through smooth fare collection and reduce the burden on drivers through automation.
