JR Tokai Retailing Plus will install a “Cup Ice” vending machine near Car 6 on Platform 27 of the Tokaido Shinkansen at JR Shin-Osaka Station starting August 7. The price is 220 yen.
Since a certain number of passengers purchase cups of ice along with drinks during long-distance Shinkansen trips, the company has decided to begin selling this product—which is currently available at some stores—through vending machines as well.
The unit to be installed is Fuji Electric’s “FFS107WFXU1” refrigerated vending machine, and the cup ice is Kokubo Ice & Refrigeration’s “Rock Ice Glass.”
