In conjunction with the “49th Sumida River Fireworks Festival” to be held on July 25, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department will implement traffic restrictions on public roads and the Metropolitan Expressway in the vicinity of the venue.
On public roads, vehicle traffic will be prohibited from 6:00 p.m. to around 9:30 p.m. in the areas surrounding Venues 1 and 2, including Asakusa Station, Hikifune Station, and Ryogoku Station. After that, from approximately 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., reduced traffic restrictions will be in effect in the central area, including Asakusa Station, Azumabashi Bridge, Komagata Bridge, and the Sumida Ward Office.
On the Metropolitan Expressway Route 6 Mukojima Line, traffic will be closed on the northbound lanes (from Horikiri JCT to Ryogoku JCT) and the southbound lanes (from Ryogoku JCT to Tsutsumi-dori Exit) from approximately 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Traffic congestion is expected on roads surrounding the venue—including the Keiyo Road, Nikko Kaido, Meiji-dori, Mitsume-dori, and Yasukuni-dori—so drivers are advised to take alternate routes.
