NEXCO West Japan and NEXCO West Japan Information Technology launched new features for “i-Highway,” their expressway traffic information website, on July 23.
The three new features are “Estimated Travel Time for Congested Sections,” “Information on Traffic Restrictions,” and “Map Links.”
Previously, the app displayed the location and length of traffic jams, but it did not show the specific route section or the estimated travel time to pass through it. With the improvement to the “Estimated Travel Time for Congested Sections” feature, selecting a traffic jam indicator on the map now allows you to check the estimated travel time for the section containing that traffic jam.
As part of the improvements to the “Traffic Restrictions Information” feature, specific reasons for restrictions are now displayed on the map using icons for “Broken-down Vehicle,” “Fallen Object,” and “Lane Closure.” You can choose to show or hide each of these items.
In addition, as part of the improvements to “Map Link,” link icons have been added to the map. Clicking on these icons takes users to web pages containing information such as current traffic restrictions and upcoming construction schedules. Users can choose to show or hide the link icons.
