[Visiting RV Parks: Hubs for Overnight Stays in Your RV] The Largest Site Yet at 20×10m. We Stayed at a Grass-Covered RV Park in Kamisu City, Ibaraki: “RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina” and “RV Park Hikawahama”

Posted on July 23, 2026 by Editor in Chief

This time, we’ll be introducing two facilities located in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture: “RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina” and “RV Park Hikawabama.” While their names might suggest they have no connection, they are actually operated by the same company. The parent company is Token, which operates a campground called “Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina” in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture. This facility is known for offering an American-style camping experience centered around trailer homes. “RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina” (3631-1 Hikawa, Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture) is located on the grounds of this campground, while the other facility is “RV Park Hikawahama” (2036-79 Sunama, Hikawahama Kaigan, Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture), which just opened in May. The Kamisu City area in Ibaraki Prefecture is a region where you can enjoy waterfront vacations at Lake Kasumigaura and the Pacific coast, and it’s located within a two-hour drive of Tokyo. Although not widely known, it’s also a comfortable place to spend time in the summer because temperatures are lower than in inland areas. Moreover, since it has remained largely untouched by commercial tourism, it’s a hidden gem that stays relatively uncrowded even during peak season and sees few international visitors.

RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina, Where You Can Also Try Kayaking Let’s start by introducing “RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina.” It’s located along the Hitachi-Tone River, a tributary that runs parallel to the Tone River, and the campground is situated so that it surrounds the “boat basin,” which is managed by the local community. This is what makes the location unique. “RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina” is located on the opposite side of the pathway running along the boat basin from the area where the reception building and other facilities are situated, and it offers three campsites. Two of these are covered areas equipped with tables, so you can spend time outside your RV while avoiding the sun during the summer. Even when the weather isn’t ideal, you can still enjoy meals and bonfires outside your vehicle. The covered sites are equipped with tables, chairs, a grill, and a fire pit, so even those without their own gear can enjoy their stay without any inconvenience. Rates range from 7,150 yen to 11,150 yen for up to two adults and one vehicle. An additional 2,750 yen is charged for each additional adult, and 1,100 yen for each additional car. Admission is free for high school students and younger. Additionally, there is an admission fee of 1,100 yen per pet. There is also a 550-yen facility management fee per night, which covers waste disposal and other costs. The campsites measure approximately 10 × 10 meters, and the covered area is about 5 × 5 meters, providing plenty of space to relax comfortably. The parking area is also sufficiently spacious; not only can large motorhomes park comfortably, but by using side awnings or tarps, you can create a large living space that extends from the covered area. There is another option: an uncovered grassy site. While it is the same size as the covered sites, it feels more spacious precisely because it lacks a roof. Each site is equipped with a sink and a table. Since you’re allowed to pitch a tent within the site, you have a great deal of freedom in how you arrange your space, especially given the ample size. If the lack of a roof doesn’t bother you, you’ll likely appreciate the benefit of being able to take advantage of the spaciousness to enjoy car camping in a variety of styles.
