NEXCO West Japan’s Kansai Branch and West Japan Expressway Services Holdings will close the Otsu Service Area on both directions of the Meishin Expressway (E1) from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on August 6.
This measure is being implemented in conjunction with the “2026 Lake Biwa Grand Fireworks Festival,” and during the closure period, shops, restrooms, and parking lots will all be unavailable. All vehicles currently parked in the area must also leave before the closure takes effect.
Although the Otsu Interchange will remain open even while the SA is closed, severe traffic congestion is expected in both directions, and the company is urging drivers to exercise caution.
