The Kamakura City Tourism Association will hold the “78th Kamakura Fireworks Festival” on July 10 from 7:20 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. The venue stretches from Yuigahama Beach to Zaimokuza Beach. Approximately 2,500 fireworks will be launched, including dynamic large-caliber shells, star mines, and the festival’s signature underwater fireworks, which fan out across the water’s surface.
On the day of the event, traffic restrictions will be in effect starting at 6:30 p.m., primarily around Kamakura Station and along Wakamiya-ōji. The section of Wakamiya-ōji between the Shimoba and Namikawa intersections will become a pedestrian-only zone until 11:00 p.m., and traffic between Nino-Torii and Shimoba will be restricted to one lane in each direction.
In addition, the Hase, Yuigahama, and Wadazuka areas may be closed to vehicle traffic from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., depending on traffic conditions. During these restrictions, vehicles will not be able to exit parking lots along the road, and bus and taxi pickup locations will be changed. In addition, temporary parking areas for bicycles and motorcycles will be set up in the Yuigahama section of Kamakura Seaside Park, but please note that the number of available spaces is limited.
The Kamakura City Tourism Association’s official YouTube channel and the J:COM channel (Kanagawa area, Digital Terrestrial Channel 11) will also broadcast the fireworks display live.
