On July 3, Tokyo Disneyland held a “Special Greeting” along the parade route to commemorate the release of the movie “Toy Story 5.” The three main characters and eight members of the Japanese voice cast appeared as special guests.
This event is part of the “Fan Time with Toy Story 5” Private Evening Party, a one-night-only event where guests can enjoy the park exclusively, and this marks the first time a special greeting has been held in the evening.
As Taylor Swift’s latest theme song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” played, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie made their entrance riding a float. Woody was wearing a red paisley poncho, looking just like he does in the movie!
Next to arrive was the “Omnibus,” a double-decker bus carrying the Japanese voice cast. Toshiaki Karasawa, who voices Woody, and George Tokoro, who voices Buzz Lightyear, waved back at the guests.
In addition, the voice actors who played characters making their debut in this film made surprise appearances. Starting with Alice Hirose as Lilypad, the cast included Yuto Sano (M!LK) as Smarty Pants of the “Tech Trio,” Kazu Inoue (Nogizaka46) as Snappy, and Kemuri Matsui (Reiwa Roman) as Atlas. Also making an appearance were Shun Matsuo and Shohei Nagata (Chocolate Planet), who played Ducky and Bunny, respectively, in the previous film.
He responded with a beaming smile to the cheers and waving hands of the excited guests lining the parade route.
The latest installment in the series, “Toy Story 5,” is a story centered on Jessie, the cowgirl doll who has watched over Bonnie—an imaginative but shy little girl—as she grows up.
Bonnie has become obsessed with the cutting-edge digital tablet “Lily Pad,” and as her once-cheerful smile begins to fade, Woody and Buzz team up once again to turn things around—but will they succeed?
In today’s world, where the wave of digitalization is sweeping in and entertainment options abound, this content reminds us anew of the “special role” that only toys can play in an era where the nature of “play” has changed.
Tokyo Disneyland is currently hosting “Fun Time with Toy Story 5” through September 14. The event features a “Toy Friends Stamp Rally,” merchandise, special menu items, and decorations.
