I tried out the “headphones” developed by MUJI as everyday items. Who would you recommend them to?

Here are the specs for earbuds designed for different situations. In this audio series, all items—including headphones—feature built-in microphones. They’re practical enough to be used for web conferences while traveling or staying at a hotel. All models support USB Type-C charging and come with a dedicated cable (USB Type-A to C). Here are the features of the earbuds, which you can mix and match depending on your travel style. Wireless Earbuds: In-Ear Type (2,990 yen) The in-ear design minimizes sound leakage and ensures a secure fit while on the move. They didn’t fall out even when I shook my head from side to side or up and down while wearing them. The battery life is approximately 6 hours (at 50% volume). Wireless Earbuds (In-Ear Type) (2,990 yen) These offer a lightweight, comfortable fit that doesn’t block your ears too much. Since you can still hear ambient sounds to some extent, they’re useful for childcare, walking, or when you’re on the go and don’t want to miss station announcements. The continuous playback time is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes (at 50% volume). Both earbud models are available in two colors—white and gray—and support touch controls for volume adjustment and pausing. A charging case that can recharge the earbuds three times is included. Each earbud weighs approximately 4g; the total weight, including the case, is about 32g for the canal-type model and about 31g for the in-ear model. The in-ear model uses Bluetooth version 5.4, while the on-ear model uses Bluetooth version 6.0. Although more than 50 audio devices were constantly connected wirelessly at the venue, the on-ear earbuds played music without any interruptions at all, demonstrating a very stable connection. That said, the earbuds I use personally—made by another company and costing about 10,000 yen—use Bluetooth version 5.3. I’ve never really noticed any audio dropouts even on crowded trains, so I expect Muji’s in-ear models will also provide a sufficiently stable listening experience.

These two speaker models—a “compact speaker” that’s small and easy to use, and a “mobile speaker” designed for portability—feature IPX5-equivalent water resistance, meaning they can withstand direct splashes of water from a cup, so you can use them with confidence in the bathroom or kitchen, or even during a sudden rain shower. Designed for outdoor use, they are available exclusively in gray to minimize the appearance of fingerprints and dirt. Wireless Compact Speaker (2,990 yen) Despite its small size—making it easy to place on a dining table, a hotel bedside table, or a car dashboard—it features an upward-facing speaker that allows sound to fill the space. Continuous playback time is approximately 10 hours (at 50% volume). Wireless Mobile Speaker with Loop (3,990 yen) It comes with a loop that allows you to hang it from hooks on tents, tables, and other surfaces, making it convenient to carry around. It features a front-facing speaker that delivers powerful sound and employs a “passive radiator system” that uses a separate diaphragm on the back to reproduce rich bass. Continuous playback time is approximately 15 hours (at 50% volume). By connecting (pairing) two units of the same model, the speakers support stereo playback via TWS (True Wireless Stereo) mode. Although this loop-equipped portable speaker can be hung in a high position, it is recommended to place it at ear level for optimal performance. When placed on a desk or shelf, the sound quality may vary depending on the surface material, such as wood or artificial marble.
