In response to a request for assistance from the Venezuelan government to the Japanese government, JICA dispatched an International Emergency Assistance Team (medical team). The medical team, consisting of a total of 42 members—including members of the assessment team who departed Japan the day after the disaster—is providing medical care to victims on site.

Departure of the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Medical Team
Following the survey team that departed the day after the disaster, members of the medical team gathered at Haneda Airport from across the country on the morning of Saturday, July 4. The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Japan, the representative of the JDR medical team, and the Vice President of JICA each offered words of encouragement and saw off the departing team members.
On the 4th and 5th, 13 and 20 medical team members, respectively, departed from Japan. Doctors and other members of the survey team have already begun providing medical care on site.
