ANA has unveiled the design for the “Pokémon Jet Blue,” the third specially painted aircraft in its Pokémon 30th Anniversary special series. It will begin service on domestic scheduled flights starting in December.
The aircraft used was a medium-sized Boeing 737-800 passenger jet (registration number: JA56AN). The aircraft, painted primarily in blue—ANA’s corporate color—features Pikachu, Squirtle, Piplup, and Mijumaru, among other “Water-type” Pokémon that serve as the first companions in each series’ adventures.
In addition, Economy Class seats will feature headrest covers depicting a gathering of the Pokémon that appear in the aircraft’s design, and the paper cups and cocktail napkins used for in-flight service on both domestic and international flights will be specially designed to feature the 30th-anniversary logo and other commemorative elements.
In addition, a collaborative campaign with the smartphone game app “Pokémon GO” will begin on July 28 at 4:00 p.m. The first phase of this campaign, commemorating the debut of the first “Pokémon Jet Red” aircraft, will take place at New Chitose, Hakodate, Akita, Sendai, Haneda (Terminals 2 and 3), and Narita (Terminal 1) airports. Specially designed ANA “PokéStops” and “Gyms” where players can enjoy cooperative battle events will appear within these facilities.
In addition, by using these to take on limited-time “Time Challenges” and “Raid Battles,” players can obtain Pokémon featuring special “location backgrounds” exclusive to this collaboration. The list of participating airports is scheduled to expand gradually as new routes are launched.
