New late-night direct service added to the “Mt. Fuji 5th Station Line” departing from Busta Shinjuku. Start your climb early in the morning when crowds are light for a chance to see the sunrise and a sea of clouds.

Fuji-Q Bus will introduce a new late-night direct service (Route 1475) on the “Mt. Fuji 5th Station Line,” an express bus route connecting Busta Shinjuku and Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station (Yoshida Trail). The service will operate from July 3 to September 9.

The bus departs from Busta Shinjuku at 11:25 p.m. and arrives at the Fifth Station of Mount Fuji at 2:00 a.m. the following morning. The fare is 5,800 yen when paid at the ticket counter or at a convenience store, or 5,500 yen when paid in advance by credit card through the express bus reservation site “Highway Bus.com” with the online discount applied.

This initiative is designed to alleviate congestion during the Mount Fuji climbing season by spreading out climbing times and to meet the demand for early-morning climbs. Previously, early-morning climbs from the Tokyo metropolitan area often required travelers to stay overnight the night before or make multiple transfers; however, by using late-night services, direct access via public transportation alone—without any transfers—will now be possible.

Not only can you start your hike early in the morning when it’s less crowded, but you may also have the chance to see the sunrise or a sea of clouds along the “Yoshida Route,” the main hiking trail.
