Yamazen will begin rolling out its “semi-solid mobile batteries,” designed to reduce the risk of fire, starting in late June. The products will be available at open prices in two capacities: 10,000mAh (suggested retail price: 6,578 yen) and 20,000mAh (suggested retail price: 8,778 yen). They will be available on the official e-commerce site “Yamazen Bizcom,” Rakuten Ichiba’s “Kurashi no e-Shop,” and at electronics retailers and home improvement stores nationwide.
A key feature of this product is its use of a “quasi-solid-state battery,” which transforms the liquid electrolyte typically found in standard portable power banks into a gel and limits its content to 1% or less. This design ensures a high level of safety, making the battery highly resistant to ignition and internal short circuits even when subjected to severe impacts, nail penetration, or cutting tests.
In terms of performance, the internal resistance has been reduced to 9 mΩ or less to minimize heat generation, and it supports fast charging up to 30 W and high-power output of up to 35 W. In addition to powering smartphones, it can also charge tablets and laptops, and it can be used as the official battery for the company’s “PD-spec Fan Series.”
Furthermore, while conventional liquid lithium-ion batteries have a charge-discharge cycle of approximately 300 to 500 cycles, this product offers a long service life of approximately 1,000 cycles, and battery swelling is limited to 7% or less. With an operating temperature range of -10°C to 50°C, it can be used in a wide variety of environments, from everyday use to outdoor activities and disaster preparedness.
The company developed this product to address the recent issues surrounding fires and smoke emissions in conventional lithium-ion batteries, as well as to meet the demand for higher output and greater capacity driven by the increasing performance of smartphones and PCs, combining safety, high output, and long service life.
