Workman to Release “West Cool Fan,” a Box-Type Fan with High Airflow for Cooling, in Early July. Turn Your Everyday Clothes into Fan-Equipped Wear!

Posted on June 30, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Workman will release its new product, the “WindCore MEGA BLOW FAN” (commonly known as the “Waist Cool Fan”), in early July. The price is 4,900 yen. It will be available at stores nationwide, including professional-oriented stores as well as women’s stores and “colors” stores that do not carry workwear.

The so-called “box-type fan” is emerging as a new trend for the summer of 2026. By simply attaching the included clip to your pants waistband or similar, it blows air directly into your clothing. Unlike traditional handheld fans, this design allows you to stay cool while keeping both hands free. You can turn your everyday clothes into “fan-equipped wear” whenever you need it.

The unit measures 84 × 60 × 90 mm (width × depth × height). When you actually attach it to your waist, you’ll experience a surprisingly powerful breeze despite its compact appearance. The unit is equipped with a high-output motor spinning at approximately 80,000 rpm, delivering a maximum wind speed of about 17 m/s and a maximum airflow of about 42.4 L/s.

While “fan-equipped clothing”—a hallmark of Workman—refers to products with a different design, such as varying fan diameters, the Waist Cool Fan allows you to easily enjoy the same cooling effect as fan-equipped clothing only when you need it, without compromising your everyday style.

Weighing approximately 350g, it is lightweight and features four fan speed settings plus a turbo mode that automatically turns off after 180 seconds. It has a built-in 8000mAh battery (4000mAh × 2) and can operate continuously for about 8 hours on the lowest “Low” setting.

When fully charged in about 4 hours, the continuous operating time is approximately 1.0 hour in High mode, 1.4 hours in Medium mode, 2.7 hours in Low mode, and 8.0 hours in Ultra-Low mode. In High and Turbo modes, the motor makes a fairly loud high-pitched noise, but in Low and Ultra-Low modes, the noise is not noticeable even indoors.

In addition, it features a portable battery function that lets you charge your smartphone in a pinch, and you can also wear it around your neck using the included neck strap.

Actually, when this “West Cool Fan” was first unveiled at the Spring/Summer Product Exhibition held this past April, it was intended to be a test run with a production run of about 2,000 units, scheduled for release in mid-June. A Workman spokesperson commented, “We hadn’t originally planned to showcase it at the trade show; it was placed there quietly due to a mix-up… Contrary to our expectations, it was picked up by the media and influencers, and we’re surprised by the huge response even before its release,” indicating that the level of attention it received beforehand was completely unexpected.

Anticipating growing demand for these box-type fans, the company significantly raised its sales target to over 15,000 units and began rolling out the product to stores nationwide in early July, just as the height of summer was approaching.

From everyday outings to commutes and weekend leisure activities, this must-have gear lets you easily carry around unparalleled coolness. We highly recommend giving it a try to beat the heat this summer of 2026.
