Oriental Land and JAL have introduced a circular economy model that utilizes waste cooking oil generated by theme park operations, such as those at Tokyo Disneyland, to produce and use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
SAF is produced from raw materials such as used cooking oil, biomass, and municipal solid waste. By blending it with fossil-based jet fuel, it is possible to reduce the amount of fossil fuel consumed by aircraft.
The company aims to effectively utilize resources generated by its theme park operations and other businesses as aviation fuel, while also using this initiative as an opportunity to raise awareness about SAF. It plans to continue promoting resource recycling in the future.
