The “Komatsushima Port Festival Fireworks Display” will be held on July 19. It features one of the largest displays of consecutive large fireworks in Shikoku, and the Blue Impulse will perform a flyover during the day.

The Komatsushima Port Festival Organizing Committee in Tokushima Prefecture will hold the “Summer Fireworks Display,” the highlight of the festival’s second day, on July 19. The event will take place around the wharf in the Shin-ko area of Komatsushima Port, with fireworks scheduled from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (message fireworks will begin at 7:45 p.m.). The event will proceed in light rain but will be canceled in case of severe weather.

A summer tradition in Tokushima, this fireworks display features one of the largest numbers of large-caliber fireworks in Shikoku. Approximately 2,500 fireworks will be launched, including spectacular star mines and extra-large “shakudama” fireworks that expand to an enormous size. This year, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the city’s establishment, a demonstration flight by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s Blue Impulse is scheduled for the same day, starting at 12:20 p.m. and lasting approximately 20 minutes.

Applications for supporting memberships—which include invitations to special viewing seats at the fireworks festival—are being accepted until June 26 via phone and other methods through the Komatsushima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (30,000 yen per table, up to 5 people, includes a souvenir, and features dedicated portable restrooms).

In addition, a “Special Viewing Seats and Dedicated Parking Lot Package”—which allows visitors to enjoy both the Blue Impulse demonstration flight and the fireworks display—is being offered as a hometown tax donation return gift. Both options will end once capacity is reached.
