Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, will open “miiina” (7-1 Raijin, Misekiyoshi, Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture), a new community hub centered around a children’s playground, on June 19.
This facility is a complete renovation of the former “Hanatopia Iwanuma.” Spanning a site area of approximately 46,000 square meters, it features one of the largest water play zones in the Tohoku region—complete with fountains and attractions such as a bucket that pours large volumes of water from above—as well as an all-weather indoor play area covering approximately 2,300 square meters.
Inside, the facility features “Kids Airship,” a giant ball pit synchronized with projector images; “Challenge Plaza,” an activity area with large net play structures and a zip line; “Inspiration Atelier,” where children can draw with magic chalk that washes off with water; and “Sukusuku Garden,” a cushioned play area exclusively for children aged 0 to 1.
In addition to the outdoor water play area, there is a hill area where children can ride pedal carts, the popular “Fluffy Dome” (a trampoline-like structure), and a vast lawn. During the summer only, “Mushi Mushi Land—Forest of the Water God” opens inside the dome, where stag beetles are released.
In the food and beverage and retail area, “NISHIKIYA KITCHEN & CAFÉ”—a café operated by Nishiki Foods, a renowned manufacturer of ready-to-eat curry—will open a location there and collaborate with the adjacent “Nigiwai Market,” a farmers’ market, to offer local cuisine.
To alleviate crowding, use of the facility will be limited to Iwanuma residents throughout June, and it will officially open to the public on July 1, when it will be available to everyone, including visitors from outside the city.
