Posted on June 30, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Summer 2026 is here, and fireworks season has finally arrived. In this article, we’ll take a look at all the must-see fireworks displays taking place across the country in July.

The Kanto region and its surrounding areas will see a concentration of major events on July 25, with the “Sumida River Fireworks Festival”—featuring approximately 20,000 fireworks—as well as the “Mito Kairakuen Fireworks Festival” in Ibaraki Prefecture and the “Moka City Summer Festival Grand Fireworks Festival” in Tochigi Prefecture all taking place simultaneously. In addition, the “Katsushika Summer Fireworks Festival” is scheduled for July 28, featuring a drone show in addition to the launch of approximately 20,000 fireworks.

Outside the Kanto region, don’t miss the “Ise Jingu Dedication National Fireworks Festival” in Mie Prefecture, where fireworks artisans from across the country showcase their skills, or the “Komatsushima Port Festival” in Tokushima Prefecture, featuring a flyover by the Blue Impulse. In addition, there are numerous special packages available that let you fully enjoy a unique experience, such as the “Toba Minato Festival Fireworks,” which you can relax and watch from aboard an Ise Bay Ferry, and the “Toyohira River Fireworks Festival” in Sapporo, Hokkaido, which you can enjoy alongside a hotel dinner buffet.

Tickets for many of the paid viewing areas—where you can enjoy the fireworks while avoiding the crowds—are already on sale. For detailed schedules, event sizes, and ticket purchase information for each festival, please check the links to the articles below.
