JAL Expands Deployment of State-of-the-Art A350-1000 Aircraft on International Routes; Strong Inbound Travel Demand Leads to Daily Service on Five Routes, Including San Diego

Posted on June 30, 2026 by Editor in Chief

On June 11, JAL announced partial changes to its international flight schedule and in-flight services for the 2026 fiscal year. These changes are intended to accommodate the return of the Airbus A350-1000 (registration number: JA10WJ), which had been undergoing long-term maintenance, and to meet strong inbound demand.

As part of changes to our fleet and route network, we will expand the routes served by the A350-1000 to 14 flights across 5 routes. Currently, the A350-1000 operates on routes to and from Haneda to New York (Flights JL6/JL5 and JL4/JL3), Dallas/Fort Worth (Flights JL12/JL11), Los Angeles (Flights JL16/JL15), London (Flights JL43/JL44), and Paris (Flights JL45/JL46). from October 1 through March 27, 2027, the airline will deploy this aircraft on the Haneda–London route (Flights JL41/JL42), and starting in September, the Haneda–Paris route (Flights JL45/JL46) will operate daily with this aircraft.

In response to growing demand, we will increase the frequency of the following five routes to seven flights per week: Narita–San Diego (Flights JL66/JL65), Narita–Bangalore (Flights JL753/JL754), Narita–Melbourne (Flights JL773/JL774), Kansai–Los Angeles (Flights JL60/JL69), and Haneda–Helsinki (Flights JL47/JL48) to seven flights per week each, making them daily services (the applicable period varies by route).

The airline is also updating its in-flight services. The new in-flight dining service introduced in March 2026 exclusively on the New York route (featuring options such as dessert selections served from a cart) will be expanded to the Los Angeles and Paris routes starting this June, and to routes to the U.S. (excluding Hawaii and Guam), Europe, the Middle East, and Sydney starting in September.

Starting in May, “Hakurakusei Junmai Ginjo”—a sake specially brewed for JAL by Niizawa Brewery in Miyagi Prefecture—will be served in Premium Economy and Economy Class on all routes except those to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian, Tianjin, Seoul, Taipei, and Guam.

In addition, we will launch a series of special events commemorating the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ visit to Japan across all routes and classes, featuring all 13 of their original albums from July to October 2026, as well as the film *The Beatles: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK – The Touring Years” from July to December.
