[Event Announcement] The New Market Lies in Africa: First Africa Business Co-creation Seminar for Japanese Companies—Tips for Market Entry and Next Steps | News & Public Relations

Posted on June 30, 2026 by Editor in Chief

Background

With the 10th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 10) on the horizon, economic relations between Japan and Africa are undergoing a major shift from a relationship centered on aid to one of co-creation driven by private investment and business.

While market integration is advancing with the progress of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the current reality is that a lack of practical information regarding the local business environment, regulations, and support measures—particularly among Japanese companies—remains a barrier to expanding into Africa.

In light of these challenges, this seminar will be held as part of a roadshow aimed at building momentum for TICAD 10, targeting primarily Japanese companies interested in the African market.

This initiative, a collaboration among JETRO, JICA, UNDP, and UNIDO, aims to deepen participants’ understanding of business in Africa and help them visualize concrete strategies for entering the market by sharing the latest trends in the African market, public-private support programs, and firsthand experiences from companies currently operating in Africa.

In addition, the second half of the event will feature a networking session involving four partner organizations. Through interactions among participants and with supporting organizations, we aim to foster public-private networks and provide opportunities for connections that will lead to future initiatives.
