On May 29, Ikaros Shuppan released “Monthly Airline July 2026,” an A4-size, 136-page book priced at 1,760 yen.

The special feature is “Narrow Body Jets, A New Era.” .

The Boeing 737-8 (737 MAX), the latest narrow-body aircraft to be put into service by ANA and Skymark this year. In addition to the latest developments in this field, we will also examine the current situation in which the environment surrounding narrow-body aircraft is undergoing a major transition from the conventional image of “short-haul” and “narrow” aircraft.

The long-haul routes opened up by the rival Airbus A321XLR/LR, the sophistication of its upper class, and the expansion of its introduction worldwide are significantly rewriting that conventional wisdom. The introduction of the 737-8 has brought a new dimension to the Japanese market, while overseas, new-generation aircraft such as the Chinese-made COMAC C919 are also strengthening their presence, leading to even fiercer competition. In terms of technological innovation, operational efficiency, and cabin trends, the narrow-body aircraft is steadily moving toward a leading role in the airline market.

In this issue, we examine the latest trends in Japan, new-generation models from around the world, history, technology, and cabin evolution, as well as the lineage of best-selling narrow-body aircraft, which can be considered the origin of the development of narrow-body aircraft, from various perspectives. The report will also examine the evolution of the narrow-body aircraft from various perspectives.
