Kanonji Smart IC” of Takamatsu Expressway opens at 15:00 on July 4. Direct access to central Kanonji City between Sanuki Toyonaka IC and Onohara IC within 10 minutes.

NEXCO West Japan will open the Kannonji Smart IC on the Takamatsu Expressway (E11), which has been under construction with Kannonji City in Kagawa Prefecture, to traffic at 15:00 on July 4.

Connected to the main line of the Takamatsu Expressway between the Sanuki Toyonaka IC and the Onohara IC. Located 3.5 km from the Sanuki Toyonaka IC and 5.6 km from the Onohara IC, it is open to all types of vehicles equipped with ETC on-board units and operates in a full interchange format (both upper and lower lines can be used as entrances and exits) with 24-hour access. Normal ETC tolls for regular vehicles on the main section include 260 yen to the Sanuki Toyonaka Interchange, 320 yen to the Onohara Interchange, and 1,490 yen to the Takamatsu Chuo Interchange.

As the closest IC to the center of Kanonji City, it is estimated to have a wide range of benefits. In terms of industry and logistics, the distance from the Yamada Industrial Complex will be reduced by approximately 4 km, which is expected to reduce logistics costs and strengthen regional brand power, in addition to reducing the transportation time of olive beef and agricultural products.

In terms of tourism and interaction, it will be possible to reach the city center within 10 minutes, and the number of people interacting with the city is expected to increase by approximately 50,000 people per year by making the routes to major tourist attractions easier to understand.

In addition, the conversion to the use of expressways has reduced the traffic volume on National Route 11 by approximately 3-8%, improving safety on routes to school and other areas. In addition, it will lead to the strengthening of a prompt disaster and medical support system by shortening the time required to transport patients to tertiary emergency medical institutions such as Mitutoyo General Hospital and those outside of its jurisdiction, securing alternative routes when the Zaita River is flooded, and making it possible to reach supply centers within about 10 minutes from each IC.

Since the gate is for ETC use only, the gate’s opening and closing bars will not open unless the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The safety structure allows vehicles not equipped with ETC to return without backing up if they enter the gate by mistake.
