First shipment of Piyorin TOICA expected to sell out at some stations. Switch to regular TOICA until sales resume, JR Tokai announces.

Posted on June 29, 2026 by Editor in Chief

JR Tokai announced on its official website the inventory status of “Piyon TOICA,” which went on sale on May 22, as of May 28.

The number of purchases has exceeded initial expectations, and the first shipment is expected to be sold out at some stations. In addition, the “Piyon TOICA with paulownia wood storage box,” which was available for pre-order in limited quantities (up to 3,000 sets) on the online “JR Tokai MARKET” website, has already sold out.

The final sales volume is expected to be approximately 400,000 as initially announced. While the company plans to continue to ship TOICAs in phases, stations that have sold out of the first shipment will handle the regular-design TOICAs until sales resume. Some stations may not receive additional shipments.

The stations where TOICA tickets are sold are ticket vending machines with a TOICA display in the TOICA usage area and TOICA-handling counters. However, Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shin-Yokohama, Odawara, Atami, Shin-Fuji, Gifu-Hashima, Maibara, Kyoto, and Shin-Osaka stations are excluded, and at Mikawa-Anjo station, only short-distance ticket vending machines for conventional lines are available.

The price is 2000 yen (including 500 yen deposit and 1500 yen charge).
