Announcement of Oceania Innovation Seminar & “Pacific-DIVE” Program Open Call | News & PR

Last fiscal year, JICA launched Pacific-DIVE, a program to identify and support innovative technology and business solutions from Japanese companies for solving development issues in the Pacific region. This program is open to companies that aim to develop businesses that contribute to solving local issues while creating synergies with JICA projects in the Pacific region, and is scheduled to continue accepting applications in FY2026.

Therefore, we will hold a seminar to provide an overview of this program, its support contents, and key points for application!

Cooperation: Dream Incubator

Date: Friday, June 26, 2026, 14:00-15:30

Mode of implementation: Online delivery

Target: Japanese startups and SMEs interested in expanding their business to the Oceania region, as well as new business and innovation staff from large companies and those in charge of the Oceania region, VC/CVC, universities, local government officials, etc.

Participation fee: Free of charge

Information on Public Offering

The Pacific DIVE application period for this year will open on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Please refer to the following for an overview of the implementation.

Publicly solicited: June 15, 2026 (Monday) – July 24, 2026 (Friday) 23:59

Subject of public offering (tentative)

(1) Technical Cooperation Framework: Solutions that contribute to creating synergies with projects that JICA is implementing or planning to implement in the Oceania region.

The “Regional Development Planning Project through the Management and Preservation of Historical Heritage” to be implemented in Palau.

(2) Designated Priority Countries: Countries where JICA would like to focus on co-creation with the private sector, and solutions that can contribute to solving development issues.

Papua New Guinea (areas of particular interest: mine development and operations, support for communities near mines (disaster prevention, environment, health/medical care, etc.))

Timor-Leste (areas of particular interest: industrial diversification (agriculture, fisheries, tourism, etc.), disaster prevention and infrastructure strengthening)

(iii) Open framework: Solutions that can contribute to solving development issues in the Oceania region identified by the applicant companies themselves, regardless of (i) and (ii) above.

How to apply: We plan to use the “Throttle” service for the Open Innovation Challenge. The specific URL will be posted on the JICA website and other sites at a later date.
